Ian Somerhalder... what a Homophobe! Let this guys career die.

So Ian Somerhalder believes he is not homophobic but if you read his interview below you can make your own mind up. Girl+Girl=Allowed, Girl+Boy=Allowed, Boy+Boy= Disgusting!!!! Followed by that… is his back peddling, and he does the old “I have gay friends” thing. What a looser.-ed

Ian Somerhalder’s had a short career as an actor, but he’s already cornered the market on superhot, sexually and romantically confused characters. Whether it’s the guy who falls in love with a guy who’s really a girl on the short-lived series Young Americans, a bisexual hustler who’s into Hayden Christensen in My Life as a House or Paul, part of the screwed-up quartet of crazy coeds whose unrequited affection for James Van Der Beek runs The Rules of Attraction, Ian’s the man when it comes to navigating modern love and lust. A&F sent director Gregg Araki to get the scoop.

What was it like making out with James Van Der Beek? Oh, God. Oh, God. That is one really horrible question.

Why is it a horrible question? Well, first of all it wasn’t a makeout. It appears to be a makeout. I am not going to say anything bad. It was a very interesting experience. One I don’t plan on having again, actually.

Did you guys talk about it beforehand? Yeah, we talked a lot about it. What we came up with was, Hey, we are going to make this as cool and as fun as possible, because it kind of hasn’t been done and James has a lot of specific fans and I have very specific fans. So we just set out to have fun. What could be more fun than to have a good time and mess with people?

That was your intention? Yeah, to make it as believable as possible. Do your best to enjoy it. I know I am not gay. James knows he is not gay, so where is the problem? There was a lot of trepidation at first. But it goes away and you do it and you get it done. Now it’s going to be on-screen.
Forever and ever. I read somewhere that you had a ground rule of no tongue... That was both of our ground rules. Here is the thing: Two guys kissing is not as sexy as two girls kissing. When Selma Blair made out with Sarah-what’s-her-name, that was hot. Me and James Van Der Beek making out is not hot, it’s rather disgusting. We both looked at each other and said, “Dude, don’t stick your tongue in my mouth.”

It’s hot for some people... That’s cool. That’s totally cool. But it is what it is, and that’s what it is.

Didn’t Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair use tongue? Yeah, they did, but they are chicks and they can.

That’s allowed? That’s allowed. That’s very allowed.

Okay. We’ll get off the kiss. Thanks.

AND NOW FOR HIS BACK PEDDLING ON WHAT HE SAID ABOVE-ed

LOST star IAN SOMERHALDER is furious he was slammed as homophobic when he decided his famous gay kiss in THE RULES OF ATTRACTION would be his last.

The 26-year-old hunk nearly lost a lot of friends as a result of the public reaction to his remark, although he insists his words had been spectacularly misconstrued.

He says, "It's not me who can't handle it, it's the audience.

"SEANN WILLIAM SCOTT didn't get all of the backlash that I received when he did just the same in AMERICAN PIE (2).

"It was completely unjustified - fans and outraged men saying that I was making anti-gay remarks.

"I wasn't and those very close to me who are gay were visibly upset.

"I'd never make a disrespectful remark about anyone, especially in public, about one's sexual preference."

  1. Uh, Somerhalder IS gay. He is a frequent houseguest of Jeff Klein, a big queen that owns the Sunset Tower Hotel on the Sunset Strip. Klein is well connected as his boyfriend is a Goldwyn.

What would you expect a closeted actor to say about kissing another guy?

  2. I wasn.t sure if Ian was gay but it was weird when he kissed Shannon,as Boone + a guy who.s got loads of gay friends is probably himself.. Whatever, I only wanted to say: in the interview Ian gives a general view on how homosexuality is commonly perceived, 2girls kissing has always been sexy + a fantasy for guys! But it ìs also true that 2men kissing has never been sexy! My male best friend is gay, i.ve always respected his life & him too, but i have always been disgusted by 2men together.. U know both boys + girls have a sexual charged relation wìth their mother: breastfeeding, kisses on the lips as kids.. Boys have to make out with girls to have babies.. But men? They.re father & son, brothers, cousins, friends.. It is not something that natural for men to have any sexual relations.. And that.s not being homophobic of saying it! xx

    1. Actually that is homophobic. We have to deal with heterosexual couples kissing constantly in movies, public, pretty much everywhere. If you have a problem with men kissing easy - don't kiss one! Don't look, and I'll kiss a guy in public because I love him and I have every right.

  3. Oh come on. He's not a homophobe, he just doesn't like kissing another guy. He clearly said that he respects it, but he didn't like it and wouldn't want to do it again.

What is wrong with you ? SERIOUSLY.
"Most of the info here is collected from around the web" Well you should know it is not always the truth.
Oh and btw, some of Ian's answers: it is called HUMOR.

I realize this is an old post, but it still comes up frquently on Google search results. So here goes...

I'm pretty sure he was talking about what's typically acceptible in the eyes of the masses, given that he was discussing viewer responses. I find your interpretation far too subjective and your response hateful and hypocritical. Try to exercise a little critical thought in the future, before you make gays look as intolerant and uptight as the worst of those from whom we seek tolerance and understanding.

  6. How does the fact he isn't turned on by two men kissing or by not being turned on by kissing a man make him homophobic?

    It just makes him straight.

I don't get turned on by two lesbians kissing. Am I a homophobe and to be fair I can go my whole life without watching two lesbians kissing.

    1. That's not the problem. Say it's disgusting is rude. I wouldn't say to him that kissing a girl is disgusting because that's what makes him happy. Naturally a straight man won't be turned on by kissing a man -- he doesn't have to make a big deal about it. It's offensive to those of us that are gay because you are implying there is something wrong with us ( when that is not the case).

Just because he doesn't enjoy two men kissing doesn't make him a homophobic. And what ever made you think he was gay? I swear some people need to stop being over sensitive about things that arent so offensive. Its like saying someone that's not attracted to a race...makes then racist...which isn't true just means they're not attracted to them!! People are so ugh now at days..

  8. Seriously? All because HE didn't like kissing a guy doesn't mean he's a "homophobe." He's just straight. All because he didn't like it doesn't mean you have to make it a big deal. If he was a homophobe he wouldn't have done the movie. You guys are gay so you get offended easily by him saying he didn't like it but you don't have to make a big deal out of it. Plus he kept saying that he respects gay people and their views and stuff but it's just not or him. And he didn't lose any friends from saying that. Don't just assume, come on.

Maybe he isn't gay at all...

If he was a homophobe he wouldn't have taken on a role that required him to kiss a dude. How about you tell a gay dude to make out with a chick and then ask him how much he likes it. It's sad that being straight makes you a homophobe nowadays.

It's really sad that the gay community would call someone a bad person or homophobic because of something that person isn't comfortable doing.

As a matter a fact I'm a girl an I think two guy kissing is a bit disturbing for me, I don't have a problem with gay people but the sexy handsome guy has a point its disgusting, It just proves his as straight as they come...he is allowed to speak his mind, who really gives a fuck if anybody else seems to have a problem with it.

  16. If he isn't gay, then no one is. I see his appeal but frankly find him kinda creepy. And those of you who think he's gay need to upgrade your gaydar systems.

  17. So Ian is a "homophobe" because he's NOT gay and DOESN'T like kissing men? The man is STRAIGHT and he has EVERY right to be!!! Gay people are the most BIASED BULLIES I've ever encountered. The whole world isn't afraid of you, ya know. And WE DON'T HAVE TO BE!!! Excuse the hell out of Ian for being a straight man. I'm GLAD he's straight and I'm sure his wife is too!!!

  18. I've kissed a woman and it wasn't disgusting and I'm gay. It wasn't for me, but it wasn't disgusting.
